Magic with Cards
Playing cards happily situate themselves in the midst of doves, bunnies, tuxedos, top hats, and magic wands. However, is this what magic truly is? Is "magic" truly prop-based?

Magic with playing cards is quite possibly the most common type of magic when we think of the word "Magician". In fact, [laying cards happily situate themselves in the midst of doves, bunnies, tuxedos, top hats, and magic wands. However, is this what magic truly is? Is "magic" truly prop-based?

In learning about the differences between a Mentalist and a Magician we have found that magic generally tends to be prop-focused, i.e. watch something change, vanish, re-appear. Mentalism, on the other hand, if it used a deck of cards, would be about the idea of the card, e.g. reading a card you're thinking of. In this sense, when I use a deck of cards in my performances, I tend to use them as abstract ideas, and I tend to use Tarot or ESP decks as well.

Does it matter what kind of deck is used? Of course not, in the end, it's about the performer and the sentiment of the work that matters most. Come check out a show in Los Angeles and see what I'm all about, or contact me with any questions you might have.

Cheers,
